Arunanshu Chowdhury

born in 1969 in Hoogli, West Bengal did his M.F.A. & B.F.A. at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.University Vadodara.
Having spent most of his life in Baroda, Chowdhury’s art confronts urban violence in a manner which does not shock, but rather leaves a lingering feeling of vulnerability, almost haunting the viewer. The current political situation also influences him and his art practice, Chowdhury also comments strongly on the frivolous nature of contemporary society, the unnatural need to belong and the societal pressures are all mocked on his canvasses.

Arunanshu Chowdhury has had several solo shows which include: “Between the Lines”, Tao art gallery, Mumbai 2011; “Globalised Symbolism”, Sarah Khan Contemporary art gallery, Switzerland/ Lichtenstein 2010; “Wind in the Willows”, Anant art gallery, New Delhi 2008. His work has also been a part of numerous group shows including “Art for Humanity”, Charity show for Citizens for Peace, Mumbai; Art Bengaluru” auction at Bangalore art festival, Bengaluru; “Let me Live”, auction at New Delhi, for the cause of Plan India, girl child project all in 2012
