Nanda Dulal Mukherjee

Born 1952, completed his B.F.A in painting in 1976 and M.F.A. in Mural & Painting from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati in 1978, is a master muralist with specialized knowledge in fresco, tempera and enamel techniques. Mukherjee finds his subject matter around him. Nothing is too humble to populate his art works, be it the flora & fauna around him or still life objects in his home environment. His works have the lyrical harmony of the past masters of the Santiniketan School such as Nandalal Bose or Benode Behari.
Mukherjee has participated in many important shows. To name a few - “Silent Harmony” an exhibition organized by Cymroza art Gallery, Mumbai 1998 / Won-Kwang University exhibition , South Korea 1999 / 3rd Eastern Zonal art exhibition organized by Lalit Kala Academy 1991 / Habiart Foundation exhibitions in New Delhi & Mumbai 1991 / .Exhibition of Miniature paintings at Mrs. Shoos Gallery at Amsterdam, 1989 / “Touch of Bengal “ an exhibition by Artage Gallery, Kolkata1992 & many others.

Mukherjee has also been part of various workshops such as Vitreous Enamel Painting Technique at Faculty of Visual Arts, Benaras Hindu University,2005 /Invited as an artist in residence at Rastriya Lalit Kala Academy,Kolkata 2005 / AIFACS senior artist camp,Delhi-2006/ National Level Art workshop at Udalguri-assam2007 / Conducted Fresco painting workshop at Rabindra Bharati University 2008. He has executed several Murals such as  Mosaic Mural at Spundish Factory in Mumbai,1977/ Mosaic Murals at Kolkata Metro Stations, like Park Street, Kalighat, Rabindra Sadan, Maidan Station / Stoneware Mural at Eastern Zonal Cultural Complex at Salt Lake City. Kolkata 1994 / Mural at Dhar District Tribal Museum, M.P. 1999 / Mosaic Mural at Gitanjali Complex, Bolpur2000 / Mural work at Ramakrishna Mission, Bolpur 2005.
He has been awarded cultural scholarship by the Ministry of Education. Govt of India, New Delhi 1976-78 / Annual Exhibition of Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata 1977 & the Annual Exhibition of Birla Academy of Fine arts and Culture, Kolkata 1977.
At present Professor, Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati, Nandadulal Mukherjee lives and works in Santiniketan
