Pampa Panwar

Based between Santiniketan and Kolkata, Pampa  studied Fine Art at Viswa-Bharati Santiniketan, M.S. University, Vadodara and later Slade School of Fine Art, University College, London. She was artist-in-residence at CAMAC, Marnay-sur-Seine, France and did a Research Residency at University of Art & Design, Lucerne, Switzerland.
Her work meanders around nature and time in a fine assimilation of landscape, narrative and abstraction. Pampa’s imagery is about the changing cycle of seasons and time. Through a sensitive handling of colour, she tries to capture the poetic nuances of the tangible moment and structures it within a frame as if viewing the world through a window frame. Making extensive use of collage and text, her work plays around also with the frame that encases the imagery besides raising some questions about the gap between human perceptions of reality at one level and between her own vision and that of the viewer and his/her way of looking at what an artist creates.
Pampa has participated in many major shows in India and abroad, to name a few; “20th Century Collection” Exhibition, British Museum, London, UK / 3rd Print Biennial, Amadora, Portugal /  London Group Open Exhibition, Barbican centre, London, UK / “Art for a fairer world”, Oxfam Exhibition at Glasgow, Cardiff & London, UK / “Ways of seeing”, Art Alive Gallery, New Delhi / “Embarkations”, The millennium show, Sakshi Galery, Mumbai, India.
Pampa presently works as Art & Design Consultant with ‘A Square Designs’ Kolkata.
