ARTIST

Puspen Roy

is an urbane painter. He is quite impressed and terrified also with the velocity, perplexity, pollution, inequality, poverty and many other controversial features of his metropolis, Kolkata. He is inspired by the hard reality of urban society. With bold complicated realistic lines and abstract colour patches he likes to express his feelings about society. Puspen often, uses vibrant colours as a technical weapon. The artist likes the colour to roll upon the canvas. He feels that it creates a symbolism of a contemporary plastic society. This way Puspen tries to create the feelings of dilemma between abstract & realistic symbolism.

Puspen has participated in numerous shows and workshops
Bengal’s Artist at Sarjan Art Gallery, Vadodara,Gujrat,’13 / An Exhibition of Contemporary Art at Icon Art Gallery, Hyderabad,’12/ An Exhibition of Indian & Contemporary Art at ICCR , Kolkata,’12 / Verse on Canvas at Academy of Fine Arts & Chitrakoot Art Gallery,’11 / Extent Beyond at CIMA’s Studio 21,Kolkata’10 / An Exhibition of Paintings at Nandan, Art Paradise, Mumbai’10 / Autumn @ Commonwealth Games at ICCR, New Delhi,’10/  Puspen has also  received the national award in Aranya, ‘05’07.
