Uttam Basak

Has a Bachelors and Masters in Printmaking from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. Basak is a graphic printmaker who would ideally wish to depict life in a world at peace with itself. In the past he has depicted images from terror of war. He says any work of art which reflects the common people has widespread reach. Basak’s present works are an extension of his thought, but with maturity, he may have approach and embraced a more serene and lyrical approach to depicting his concerns about humanity.
He is credited with several solo shows including those at Art Alive and Vision Gallery, Delhi. Uttam's participations include International Contemporary Print Exhibition; Festival of India, USA; Miniature 8 , Galleri Gamteby ,  Norway and Tokyo International Mini Print Triennale , Japan, Contemporary Indian Print Exhibition Otterbein college ,Westerville, Ohio, USA 2008. ; He has also been felicitated with more than 9   All India level and 3 State level awards since 1984; Uttam Kumar Basak has also participated in various art camps and His works are in the collections NGMA, New Delhi, LKA New Delhi and several private collections in India and abroad.
At present he is teaching as Asst. Professor Printmaking in Kala Bhavana Santiniketan.
